Attached are the Marmon Valley Horse Farm (MVHF) Pack list, Activities Schedule, Site map, High Adventure Activity Medical Form, Riding waiver, and Climbing waiver (The riding waiver MUST be turned in for all participants. If MVHF does not receive this form the camper WILL NOT be allowed to participate in the riding activity. The climbing waiver MUST be turned in for all Explorers, Pioneers and Patriots! If MVHF does not receive this form the camper WILL NOT be allowed to participate in the Climb On badge activities! Please have the climbing waiver ready to turn in with your riding waiver, paper clipped in alphabetical order by last name. Both the Riding Waiver and the Climbing Waiver are forms required by Marmon Valley Horse Farm - these are not AHG Forms.)
Arrive at Marmon Valley as early as 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4th. The only activities planned for Friday are the Barn Dance at 7:00 p.m. and Campfire in the Amphitheater at 8:15 with Campfire Stories by Wrangler Matt - please note that due to the number of adults we have attending, only the girls will be participating in the Barn Dance - adults are free to observe, take video, photos, etc. Everyone is welcome to join us for Campfire Stories! Dinner on Friday evening is on your own. Due to the travel time to the Farm we suggest that you have each of your girls pack a sack dinner to eat on the way. You are also welcome to use any of the fire pits around the farm if you would like to come early and prepare dinner for your troop (a good opportunity to cover the Outdoor Cooking Badge!)
Attached you will find the Marmon Valley Riding Waiver. EVERYONE WHO GETS ON A HORSE MUST HAVE THIS!!! If you do not have this form filled out and signed you will NOT be permitted on the trail ride. Please have these forms together, paper clipped in alphabetical order by last name when you arrive. The office rep. at Marmon Valley will collect these upon arrival. You may use one form per FAMILY for those who have more than one family member attending.
Please be sure to Check-In FIRST THING upon arrived at Marmon Valley Horse Farm!! We will have a Check-In table located at the Welcome Center/Activity Barn (#1 on the attached MVHF Site Map). Check-in Parking is located in two lots, follow the signs when you arrive! You will be instructed where to park for the weekend, procedures for unloading, etc, upon arriving at the Check In table. Once your troop has all arrived - PLEASE SEND ONE REPRESENTATIVE TO THE CHECK IN TABLE! Make sure you have your riding waivers in hand.
Your Troop Trip Forms should already be filled out and sent in to Carolyn Moore at the AHG National Office, along with your roster for the weekend. Please remember you must also have your AHG High Adventure Activity Form for each girl participating in the Trail Ride and/or the Climb On Badge. AHG Rules state they may NOT participate without it - you are responsible for your troops paperwork.
You are responsible for covering your ratios of chaperone to girl, providing your own Health and Safety Lead and first aid kit, and maintaining two deep leadership.
Please make sure that you have chaperones with the girls at all times. Marmon Valley Staff and Volunteers from OH3017 and OH1412 will be leading the various activities throughout the weekend; however, we need your help with assisting girls in activities, maintaining behavior and getting girls to and from their scheduled activities on time. Please be mindful of restroom breaks/snack breaks, etc. You should have a plan for these in advance!
Use your Free Time at the Petting Barn, Hay Maze, Bunny Barn, Playground, Pond, etc. Or schedule extra badge requirements for the girls to cover! You can do Hiking, Outdoor Cooking, Camping, Fishing, etc., while you are at the Farm!
The MOST important thing to remember for our weekend is to be FLEXIBLE, be PATIENT and HAVE FUN! We hope this will be an incredible weekend for your girls AND for you!!
For His Girls,
Christy Ballard
