What an absolutely fantastic start to our year! God is so good! Many of you have been asking about signing up to help at the Patriot Festival. Well, I finally have the information that you have been waiting to receive.
Here are some details:
The Patriot Festival is on Saturday October 29, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Mason Municipal Building.
- At 11:15, Leanna Russell will be representing our troop in the Honor Guard at the dedication of the Liberty Tree, outside the Municipal Building.
- At 12:15 and 3:00, our Tenderheart 3 unit will be performing a skit on how the states united to form the United States of America.
- There will be talks given by re-enactors of Patrick Henry, Dolly Madison, and MANY others, as well as form channel 19 anchor, Jack Atherton and others. There will be a choir, a singer from OH8118, Native American dancers and drummers, and SOOOOOO much more!
- We are working with OH8118 to present two booths. One booth will be pioneer games. The other troop is taking the lead in this as their level award, so I will pass information as it becomes available. The other booth is an American Heritage Girls information booth. We may need some people to help with these booths.
- This is a FAMILY event. Unless it is arranged outside of the troop to attend with a friend, it is not a drop off. We need parents to be with their girls for safety reasons.
- Our troop is going to be passing out water to all of the presenters and demonstrators. If you have a “little red wagon” that we can use, that would be wonderful. - There will be a colonial costume contest, so we are encouraging the girls and families to dress up in period costume. If you are not dressed up and are serving on a shift, please be in full uniform. This is an amazing opportunity to represent our organization, our troop, and most of all, our God.
- At about 2:30, there will be a History Bee for students in grades 5-8. Again, we are hoping you will want to participate!
- At about 3:30, for high school students, there will be a constitution game. If you have studied this time period in history and want to give it a go, they are asking you to participate!
