SCRIPS gift card orders begin at November 14th meeting.

Dear AHG Families,
I would like to take a moment to introduce to you a new fundraising opportunity that our AHG troop is trying this year. Perhaps some of you are already familiar with the Scrip program as it is a very popular way to generate funds for non-profit groups. Here is how it works: AHG families order gift cards through the troop from Great Lakes Scrip Center, paying the troop the face value of the cards; our troop is then able to purchase the cards at a discount and keep the profits!
The beauty of this program is that there are hundreds of very popular merchants available and you are spending money on things you would be buying anyway. To see a list of all participating merchants (and what % they donate)
· go to glscrip.com
· click on “Order Scrip” at the top (you don’t actually have to place an order to see what is available)
· choose where you would like to browse (“Browse - All Categories” or choose a special area.)

Or, you could click on the following link to see participating retailers as of 10/15/11. https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0BzWaOaZk3cBjNDk5OGU2MzQtZTljYS00MWY2LWI1NzAtNDk5NWU2NWQzZjhi&hl=en_US

With the holidays approaching, we would ask that you plan to do at least some (if not all! :) ) of your Christmas shopping using Scrip. You can purchase cards, not only for your own shopping needs, but also to give the cards themselves as gifts! Remember, you get full face value for the cards you purchase -the profits come from the merchants who sell the cards at a discount. If you choose to, you may get orders from your friends and relatives and expand our profit margins even more! Please refer to the following link for the “Christmas Shopping List” which you can print out and fill out to help you plan what you want to order. https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0BzWaOaZk3cBjZjNjMmEyZDQtMDg1MS00ODg0LTk3NjYtMTkzYTRlZDZiMTA1&hl=en_US

Another benefit of this program is that it is on-going. Please consider Scrip when planning for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, graduations, holiday celebrations, and vacations, back-to-school shopping, as well as everyday purchases like pet needs, furniture, landscaping needs, gasoline, auto expenses, and even home improvement projects! I have also linked to a “Planning Calendar” to help you plan each month what you may want to order for various events throughout the year. https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0BzWaOaZk3cBjMTViZjBkMDEtMzkzOS00YzNhLTgxNjctMDc2ZmU1Y2E2NDJk&hl=en_US Again, please print this out and fill it out so that you are ready to order Scrip cards in time for your events. The trickiest part of making a Scrip program successful is planning ahead!
· I will be placing an order for the troop each month.
· New orders will be by due the first meeting of every month, and cards will be available for pick-up at the second meeting of each month.

There are also ways in which individuals may order cards directly from Scrip, send Scrip gift cards via email, and even re-load previously purchased cards (the profits going directly to the troop) - but we will get into those more complicated procedures at a later date.
Thanks for your prayerful consideration of using Scrip to help our troop raise funds. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Love and Blessings,
Janice Hammond,
AHG Scrip Coordinator
