Now your daughter can learn all about a new town and an American Heritage Girl who lives there. What does she do there? Where does she like to hang out? What’s her day like? How many girls are in her Troop? Will she become a life-long friend? Your daughter will soon learn these answers from her new Pen Pal! The AHG National Pen Pal Program provides a great way to get to know someone from another part of this wonderful country. By signing up for this adventure your daughter will receive the name and address, or email, of another girl in the AHG program. Then the fun begins! Girls can exchange ideas, dreams and pictures. They can encourage each other in Troop activities, school work and their walk of faith. Parents - the cost is low, the rewards are immeasurable and the registration is easy!1. Make sure your daughter is registered with AHG (check with your Troop Coordinator or Troop Registrar).
2. Visit www.ahgonline.org/penpal to register. The cost is $6 (includes activity patch) and you may pay securely online. Make the choice to receive email or regular mail correspondence. Registration ends November 1st, so act fast!
3. Your daughter will receive the name and address/email of her pen pal by mid-January.
4. Encourage your daughter to introduce herself to her new friend and to write often. This is a commitment to correspond at least once a month for a year.
Writing letters and postcards via USPS is encouraged, but email is a communication option for those girls who prefer it. Girls preferring email communication will be paired together, as possible. A girl may use a parent’s email address if she does not have her own. Parents are encouraged to monitor email communications, ensuring appropriate material and caution their girls about their own transmissions of pictures, links and other materials.
