Presidential Service Award

Serving others in the name of Christ is such an important part of being an American Heritage Girl.  To show how much we value our girls' service, our troop is pursuing in the President's Volunteer Service Award this year!
This relatively new award is a Presidential honor that recognizes the valuable contributions of volunteers nationwide who are already answering the call to serve others. As a Certifying Organization, AHG can verify service hours, and order the award for outstanding volunteers.

There are both individual awards & group awards, which you can read about at
http://www.presidentialserviceawards.gov/

As a group, we are aiming for the Gold Award.  To earn the award, participating girls must perform 25 hours or more of service within the year.  If the hours of those girls total 200-499 hours our troop will earn the Bronze, for 500-999 hours we'll earn Silver, & for 1,000 or more hours we'll earn the Gold Award.  Each girl who performs 25 hours or more of service (since last year's final service totals) is eligible to receive a certificate & a pin for her vest.

The award costs $6.00.  The troop will pay $3.00 toward the award.  There is no extra paperwork to fill out.  When you turn in spring service hours on March 28th, they will be added to the girls' existing totals.  Girls who reach 25 hours or more will be notified & told which level we qualify for as a troop.  Payments can then be made at the following meeting.  Please see the link on the right of the blog to see how many service hours the girls have earned as of November 29th.
