Please Mark Your Calendars! Troop Badge Field Trip

By now I am sure you have heard the rumors that there will not be a Camporee this year.  It was a tenuous date on the calendar but it has completely fallen through.

At the same time, in January we will be starting the Native American badge as our troop badge.  One of the requirements includes visiting a Native American museum.  This is a level requirement for the Explorers, but encouraged for other levels.

I have set up with Sunwatch Village, just south of Dayton, for an amazing experience for our troop.  On Friday April 8 will be going to spend the night at Sunwatch Village.  For the first grade girls, a mother must attend with them if they are to stay overnight.  For the other girls, mom is welcome to join them overnight.  The facilities are rebuilt ancient style Native American dwellings with a fire hearth in the middle of the building to keep everyone warm.  On Saturday, we will have a tour of the museum and the village.

At this point, the cost is a minimum of $25 per person.  This may go up depending on what we choose to include to really make this a memorable experience.  The increase will be less than $10.  I think it is good for you to know now what to anticipate for cost.  On Saturday, families are welcome to join for a cost of $4-10 per person depending on what is included.

It is our hope that you will mark your calendars now and make this a priority experience for your daughters.  For the Explorers, this is a required element to earn the badge.  Our goal is for every girl to earn their badge.  For everyone else, it is a great opportunity and experience.

Blessings,
