Troop Childcare Information and more - Everyone please read

Dear Families,

Greetings to you!  We hope that you are enjoying your year, crazy as it always is at the beginning.  There are a couple of things that we need to communicate to you that will help make our year much smoother as we go forth.

First, it is required that every family become a member of the blog at www.oh3124.blogspot.com  As we have moved into the full use of the blog, we are finding that we are posting information on the blog and sending emails out to the families.  We feel like this is not a good use of our time to be members of the department of redundancy department.  By becoming members, you will automatically be notified every time the blog is updated.  This will keep you in touch with the leadership and happenings of the troop in the most efficient and up to date manner.  It is our goal to be efficient and timely and we feel that this accomplishes both.  As of November 1, we will ONLY be posting information on the blog unless there are private location details that we are not able to post.  We will not be sending emails informing families that the blog has been updated.  Everyone signed a Parent Communication Form where you pledged to do your part to stay up to date with information.  Thank you for joining the blog and helping us to keep you best informed and up to date.

Next, we were recently informed of some changes in the Hope Church childcare standards.  It is our goal to comply 100% with our charter and work with them.  They have all of the latest safety information and processes and safety is our number one concern.  We currently have three people who work in childcare on a regular basis.  We must never have less than two adults.  If you are willing to sign up as a substitute that I can call on short notice, that would be a huge help.  We need to get background checks on every person involved in the childcare, so please let me know if you can substitute and I will send you the forms.

Along with this, we are opening up the childcare for any parent who needs it.  We would like to make it so that when moms are visiting their daughters for a squad activity, you have a safe place to leave siblings.  However, you need to register your child for childcare no less than two weeks in advance.  If your child is not registered, they may not stay in the childcare and they will not be allowed in the squad meeting.  This guarantees that we have the opportunity to find sufficient child care workers to meet ratios.  Every child will need to be signed in and given a security number.  That security number will be returned when the child is picked up.

Finally, no child in grade five or under may be left in any room at any time without two adults.  This means the older boys who used to be allowed to sit in the fellowship hall because we had registered adults in there, will need to take their game boys to the child care and be signed in.  They are welcome to sit in a corner of the child care and play their games there.  Once again, this is for the safety of your children.  This is a Hope Church requirement and we are striving to serve our charter well.

Thank you all for your service and dedication to our troop.  We appreciate you.  We are thankful for each one of you and we know that you will help us to continue to improve our troop.

Blessings,
